Here are those lovable and quirky characters: the long-suffering Mrs. McCracker, Harvey Schwartz the ultimate outcast, Skunk (Harvey's friend and partner in crime), Lucinda Snaklebaum and of course Maggie, the McCrackers' intemperate and utterly worthless watchdog. And just to mention one more thing from the author, it seems that at time of printing that confusion still existed in the minds of some readers with regard to McCracker's actual identity, which other readers appeared to know all too well, but as for any former, the author states that the answer is contained in these pages.}
