(A bird's-eye view of the history of the beginning, and the growth of the industry by which mankind is clothed, presenting leading facts which have marked the progress of the industry up to the firm establishment of the manufacture of textiles on American soil, together with additional facts to provide a comprehensive view of the subject. This book deals largely with the development in England and America, as those two countries originated the inventions that brought the industry to its modern-day efficiency, and in them also were the factory systems which so greatly revolutionized social life in England and in America.
